GPS location and routes

Put the device anywhere on the map or send it along a route, to test maps, delivery and anything that asks for the location.

Why: the delivery screen should pick the nearest store and show the courier moving. You can’t walk to Almaty to check it, but the device can.

  1. The GPS card shows where the device is. By default it follows the VPN country.
  2. Hover it to open the map. Click anywhere or drag the dot to move the device.
  3. Or paste exact coordinates and press Enter.
  4. The app gets the new location from Android, the same way it gets a real GPS fix: here the delivery address changes.
  5. Route moves the device along a path at walking or driving speed.
  6. Reset in the panel brings the location back to the VPN country.
  • Once you set the location by hand, Follow the VPN turns off. Turn it on again to keep GPS and the IP address in the same country.
  • The app must have the location permission. If it asks, allow it on the device, or grant it in the App card (see Deep links, permissions and resetting the app).
  • Changing the GPS doesn’t change the IP address: for a full “user in another country” set the VPN location too.
  • The app doesn’t react: it may cache the last location. Restart the app, or check that it has the location permission.
  • The map is empty: the map tiles are turned off on this Holtdroid. Coordinates still work.
  • The dot jumps back: Follow the VPN is on and the VPN location changed. Set the place by hand again.
